If you are what you drive...maybe I should go to The Priory too :-D Thirsty car, Saabs...

The Saab......it's THIRSTY!!!! Regular use round town sees about 20 mpg (really) and it's quite disconcerting knowing you put some fuel in at the start of the week, and by Wednesday, you have that little friendly orange light saying "Now look Dre. We've talked about this. Yet you still neglect me.....I can't go on like this.....one day, you will get in to drive me, and you won't hear the engine because there'll be no fuel.... Where do we go from here?" Which takes me to the petrol station. Naturally :-D

Saab SIDs - more like SODs...

One of the main annoyances I have with my 9-5 are the damned SID displays. Now these beggars, are the screens that display your fuel consumption, cd track etc. And though Saab are known for being very innovative, their SIDs fail WAY too often!!!!! You'll find that most 9-5 owners will say the same thing. There are guides for £3 or so on eBay telling you how to fix it. And if you want, you can also send it off to a repairer who can do the job for you, if you want to part with £80 of your hard earned cash. Through eBay again, like everything. Behind Door No. 3: Buy a new/refurbished/'nicked' one for £120-£150. OR.....you can just find a free guide like I did on the net :-D There's no beating free, that's what I say. You're interested now aren't you......do read on :-D

Before you click on the below link, please remember one thing: This is not MY guide. I have tried this, and with very rudimentary tools, I was able to make SOME of the pixels re-appear (which i was chuffed with :-D). So I WON'T take any responsiblity for any damage resulting from following the guide. That just isn't fair. Or right. Sure you understand :-D Ok, now that's out the way....

2nd Post

So, my second post at Four Wheel Blog...well, I guess I should start, naturally, with the car I presently drive! I have an S-reg (or '98 model year if you're not from the UK) Saab 9-5 2.0 SE Ecopower. It has 150 bhp, and is quite well equipped, with air conditioning, electric windows all round, cruise control, cd player, remote central locking...and most other goodies you can think of. I bought the car at the beginning of 2006, wanting to bring a bit of prestige into my somewhat mediocre being. And the way it made me feel...a lot of my friends made comments such as "Wow you've done well for yourself!!!!" and "That's well smart, that", followed by "Flippin 'eck, he's got a Saab!!!" So yes, does a lot for one's image (hint hint :-D) However....a year on, and I'm no longer in love with it. It's costing me an arm and a leg, wait, make that a liver, a kidney, might wanna throw some bowels in there too (and I hear hearts are going for a few bob on eBay now) just to maintain it. The price of exclusivity? Very high indeed.

Four Wheel Blog - As my Grandad used to say, "Get it down ya lad, it'll do ya good"

Welcome to Four Wheel Blog! Primarily, this is a place where I, Dre, can spout off about whatever's on my mind regarding things of an automotive nature, though on occasion, I may digress :D But any comments are more than welcome too, in fact, actively encouraged :D Always good to have a bit o' banter. I may agree, I may not, but either way, as The Rock once said...just bring it!
